HEAR IS SOME PIC FROM THE FUN FAIR

THIS IS IN THE LYNN NEWS

ORGANISERS are looking forward to a warm welcome at the opening ceremony of Lynn’s historical Mart today.
Visitors are promised all the usual fun of the fair, including dodgems and waltzers, along with some thrilling new rides.
These include the Move It, outside the old Barclays Bank building, which takes riders high up into the air, spins them round and turns them upside down, and bumper boats for younger children to drive round a pool.
Chief steward Donald Gray, from the Showman’s Guild, said: “We are looking forward to one of the finest openings in the country. In my opinion, King’s Lynn is second to none.
“It’s part of King’s Lynn’s history. Everyone is pleased to be here, it’s part of our heritage.”
The Mart will be in town until Tuesday, February 28. It moved on to the Tuesday Market Place on Saturday and organisers spent time clearing snow before they could set up the rides.
Now that the weather has improved they are hoping for a good turn out and Mr Gray said: “The Mart has brought the good weather after the coldest weekend.”
The traditional opening ceremony will be at noon today and will be carried out by borough mayor Colin Sampson.
Mr Gray said prices for the rides varied but most would cost the same as last year.
Children’s day will be on Wednesday from noon when rides cost £1 per person.
The Mart has a long and distinguished history in the town and dates back more than 800 years, having been granted a charter from King John.
